The six Weltmeisters are not going to have it all their own way Shock

Four 'Weltmeisters' occupy positions in the first six on the grid. (1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th.)

It would be very unusual for all six World Champions to qualify in all of the top six grid positions.

And surprising / unexpected for Romain Grossjean to outqualify four of them including the incumbent  ;)

It should be exciting if Renault still have their legendary starting performance.

Really good qualifying session. Love some of the new camera stuff - the helmet-cam, for instance; looks amazing on a huge projector screen Smile

Alonso's petulant exit from the car was priceless  - really thought he'd punch somebody....

He'll be like a coiled spring, fireworks at the start tomorrow Smile

Watched it live this morning, delighted to see Red Bull well beaten, I know there's a long way to go but it's a good start I guess. party time!

Didn't expect to see Ferrari perform so badly, I knew they had concerns, now I see why. I wouldn't want to be in Domenicali's shoes right now.

Pretty car = fast car Smile

Via in-car, the McLaren looks very impressive: beautifully stable under braking, very well balanced through the corner, drivers need almost no steering correction, and they're able to jump on the power nice and early Smiley

Compared to the Ferrari F2012, that red digger probably has more chance of catching the MP4-27s.

RE: Formula 1 - 2012 season

I was going to post a comment on here last week about how I used to watch F1 when it was actually racing and not just a procession decided by who's first after the first corner, mechanical failures and pitstops - I wondered how many people actually overtook for a lead last season. This morning I wake up and see the results & write-up - shocker! (I won't say anything just in-case people haven't...)

I quite like his breathless excitement: reminds me of Murray Smile

And he does at least know how to pronounce Vettel!

Great race to start the season - full of incident, some real surprises and a superb result  woohoo!

It's going to be hard to avoid the result you surf the web, watch the news or listen to the radio! Try to catch it live on RTL if you can ... I saw it for free on satellite TV, but I think the live feed on their web-site also works (silly me forgot to check it out to see if was geolocked ... http://www.rtl.de/formel1/livestream/).

Bad luck man, I go to great lengths to avoid the result when I can't watch the races live, even answering the phone: "Hello, please don't mention the formula 1..." Reminds me of that episode of The Likely Lads where they were trying to avoid the result of a footy match.

OK race, really pleased for JB, great drive.
