RE: Formula 1 - 2012 season

Just watched GP 2 this morning, got a bit wacky races when the rain came, hoping for a good race and not a lottery, gonna have a couple of wee punts just to get me going.

Good luck to anyone there and any punters.

Chucking it down with rain in London right now, heard on the radio that some people had been queuing since 5 this morning to get into the Silverstone car park.

Well that was, um, ok... I guess, would have been more interesting if it rained... probably!

I know there's a fair way to go but I think Red Bull have one finger on the constructors' championship. Looks like McLaren have lost the plot, 4th now, oh dear.

I'll make my prediction for the drivers crown now Prof: Vettel.

There, I've said it, now it's up to the other drivers to prove me wrong (I'd like that BTW  Wink)

Webber drove well all weekend - great win for him and he's still in the hunt.

And who knew he could scrub up this well?

Mark Webber playboy shoot

Great race and good to see Webber win again, impressive drive.

But McLaren's lack of all-round pace, for the second race running, is worrying... puzzled

Didn't get too wet (new McLaren umbrella helped there Smile ) - just very muddy shoes and jeans! Very glad we went up Thursday night, I can tell you.

Even with the cold and the rain though, still one of the best times of my life - good friends, lots of beer and cheer, a good race (the cheer when Webber took the lead was amazing!) and the racing fans really are fantastic - very hard to get depressed with that kind of atmosphere!

His jaw is a funny shape, like DC!

This is more like it, bit more raunchy than Gabby for sure.

I'm seriously worried for JB though, Martyn Whitmarsh can't be a happy chap either...

Will be interesting to see what happens with the current contract negotiations and if anyone jumps ship. I think at the moment Hamilton, Webber, Schumi and Massa are at the end of their current contracts. Could see quite afew changes in other teams if Lewis jumps ship. The only real alternative to McLaren would be Red Bull as there is no way Alonso would want "the best driver in F1" in his team. Would be a hard decision for Lewis to leave McLaren though as he has been with the team since he was karting.

The lure of driving a Newey designed car must be strong though, especially after the dominance over the last two or three years. This year has been a bit different with the new tyres/rules but the Red Bulls look to have a 0.5second advantage over other teams after the current upgrades. If you want to win championships you need to be in the right car at the right time and Neweys record speaks for itself.

Webber's just signed for Red Bull for 2013, I expect the other seats will be decided fairly soon.

He'll be back to winning ways before the end of the season I reckon. But the title - very doubtful.

Nice to see you had a great time at Silverstone Prof  excellent!

Really, really wish I could have gone, even the weather, mud and queues wouldn't have bothered me, next year maybe?
