'Expectant Fathers'...have your say...
Andrew Everard:All that to look forward to again next time someone quotes in this thread.
Yeah sorry! Use your superpower to delete - I won't be offended! ![]()
I get the distinct impression Andrew doesn't like young 'uns....
No problem with the kids; it's the parents I can't stand...

I'm still reeling at the Mum yelling 'oi, Anakin' at her wayward son in Tesco this weekend. May the coarse be with you....
funny you should mention, Clare - as a "married" father, I'm permitted to register the birth without having the mother and child present (last Saturday). My wife came along anyway - I think she was concerned I might opt for Obi-Wan, if left to my own devices....

Obi-Wan Aura sounds like something our parents would say when trying hard not to swear in front of the impressionable little ones...
mine hasn't reached the impressionable stage yet, so this is still a 'swearing house'.
I rest my case...
A belated congrats Big A. Being a new parent is the best feeling in the world.
Your long post earlier brings back memories. Your little one doesn't have cholic by any chance? I hope not for all your sakes. We tried everything gripe water, baby massage, osteopath and numerous bottles. The only thing that would stop our laddo was fresh air. It's not much fun walking round the garden at midnight in you pjs only for the crying to start again as soon as you entered the house.
It won't be long before you'll be getting freaked out by In The Night Garden. How things constantly change scale winds me up. "I know your names Iggle Piggle you sang to me a million times now just get you blanket and p off in the bloomin Ninky Nonk. Grrrr"
See what I mean?
Congrats to Big and little Aura, and good luck to Roger...like the 'film' post but won't annoy Andrew by quoting it again...!!
Having spent most of the time in the hospital since last week in wards full of expectant mothers, it really does amaze me that they are all so patient and tolerent of the pain, discomfort and large amounts of time spent waiting around in very dull and boring hospital buildings. If it was up to us men, we would most definately be all extinct a long time ago...or like one nurse commented, we would request large amounts of pain killing drugs at the front door on the way in !!
But it is something we all tend to take for granted, I mean, most people are fortunate enough to have a relatively straight forward birth etc but so many I've seen this week are having all sorts of terrably distressing times and my heart definately goes out to them all, and if you're one of them too at the moment, my thoughts are with you and my wishes that all goes well for you...
Andrew Everard:See what I mean?
It's impossible to say exactly what you mean...
You don't mind children as a concept, so long as no-one ever mentions them? Parents should be seen, and not heard?
Big Aura:Parents should be seen, and not heard?
That's the one.
I used to be irritated by once-normal people whose lives are now 100% child-focused. Every conversation turns to children and how much more advanced theirs are 'for their age'. (I wonder if there is a small pocket of the country with 12 year-olds unable to speak, walk or use their thumbs to offset the amazing progress being made by the children of the nappy valley.)
That said - people talk about what's going on in their lives (their wedding, their new car, their sports, their love of Japanese culture and their children); kids take up roughly 100% of a persons waking life, so they squeeze out everything else. I get that now. And I get why people are so keen to talk of nothing else.
It's a conscious effort, but while I do talk of the son & heir, I also make time for other things. Andrew - I'll still post the odd thing on association football - just for you...
