You misunderstand. I have not said whether I think this or not, I have just put this forward as a topic for discussion, since elsewhere some people were less than complimentary about said Mr Presley. I shall add my two penn'orth later once it gets going.

But no, debate away - all contributions fully welcome
Them's fighting words, missy.
Perhaps next time I'll append citations from today's dispatches to give insight into how my m”bius-like mind got to this post........
Fear not, I know the genesis of this in the top 10 artist thread...and that wasn't fighting talk, mere allusion to the divisive nature of the post!
The music we'd be listening to today would be completely different were it not for him.
His "Guitar Man" is not-quite-three-minutes of absolute genius.
Elvis was anything but rubbish.

Together with the 'Coldplay are rubbish' row earlier, uhuh. But yes, I'm being wilfully provocative, as well you know - I just want to see what people have to say........
the record spot:The music we'd be listening to today would be completely different were it not for him.
How?
Not gonna get stroppy again, but no artist is rubbish, not even Girls Aloud (and that is really hard for me to say)
Elvis was a pheno, phenomon, phenomomenme, you know... Not keen myself, but an inspiration.
(Although The Beatles probably have shaped popular music in a way that no other artist or band have ever done, or in fact ever will do.)
Anyway, he lives...On the moon, flown there in a WWII bomber with Hitler apparently.
The 'rubbish' was mischief, pure and simple. I'm looking for objective views...........
The band who have played on the most hits in the history of pop music are a band called "The Funkbrothers".They were Motown's in-house band of crack studio musicans but their names remain largely unknown even today as Motown never gave them any credit on the albums and they were never mentioned in interviews by the "stars".They played the backing tracks on all the Motown songs. The figures show that they played on more hits than Elvis,The Beatles,The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys combined...
