Ebay bargains
They really do happen. 3 days ago I won an album and it was described as being in excellent condition, the case is in good condition. The seller also said it'll take between 7-9 days, as it's being sent by 2nd class.
Well, it turned up today, played the cd - excellent condition. Case, also excellent.
I know it is only a small, inexpensive (£2.99 incl. post), item but it does restore my faith in auction sites a little.
There's been some negative threads about Ebay over the years, thought I'd put something positive for once.
ebay is very pot luck with regards customer satisfaction. You also need to be a canny buyer to get a bargain these days, or avoid a rip off.

True - the previous cd I purchased the seller said the cd and case was in very good condition, but when it arrived it looked like a herd of elephants had trampled over the case. The cd itself was fine but the case had to be replaced.
Canny buyer is one thing, but if the seller doesn't state the truth canny goes out of the window IME.
I still buy the odd item off eBay, but have given up selling as it's full of professional non-payers these days, and ebay/paypal are only interested in looking after the buyer.
My wife buys a few things on Ebay for herself/us/neighbours who are not so ebay-literate. Never had a problem, apart from a replacement Samsung phone battery that didn't fit perfectly. 2 further batteries were sent with no delay by seller and one was perfect.
I buy and sell loads of stuff on eBay and rarely have a problem, the problems I have had have been sorted out through the buyer protection scheme to a satisfactory conclusion. I must admit the non payers are a getting a pain in the butt though and eBay aren't interested in kicking them off either. As for identifying the poor sellers I think it's quite easy really, you can usually see them from their feedback and also by how they write the descriptions, take pictures etc.
Feedback is 137 now and I've had very few real problems (non payers or wrong/damaged/unfit goods).
Unless I really have to use eBay though, I stick to Amazon for CDs and, again, have never had a real problem.
My feedback is 500+ and only ever had 2 minor problems and a couple of things not turning up (blame the mail for that and not eBay).
I've had a couple of non-payers recently, both on low value BIN items. One in particular had a near 100% rating, yet when you read his feedback more than half of the comments were extremely negative, a complete time waster. Such is Ebay that the only way of putting any comments against this buyer was by giving him a positive feedback.
Never had any problem buying CD's however over the years. Bought loads and never had a dud yet.

That's ridiculous.
I've had a few bad experiences, though most of them I should have seen coming.
The worst unexpected bad experience was when I sold a Marantz CD52 about 8 or 9 years ago, boxed and with its manual & remote. Buyer seemed honest enough but within days or receiving the player, the vitriolic PMs started: item was 'rubbish', not as described, 'Open' button on the front of the player was 'broken' as it didn't close the drawer (instructions clearly state that it doesn't close the drawer on these players), and furthermore the remote was 'broken'. Apparenty if I didn't agree to receive it back 'instantly without argument' he would report me to eBay. What a nice man. So I accepted the whole thing back, only to find that he'd fitted the batteries the wrong way round. Case of it being bought by someone who was too damn stupid to use it.
Yeah I have been a member since 2004 and have about 150 all positive feedbacks. Only once had a winning bidder not pay, so I slaughtered them on the feedback.
Don't trust anyone from Nigeria. Got about 8 saved sellers including HomeCinemaCentre, Hughes Direct and Animal shop. Done pretty good out of eBay - bit of wheeling and dealing.

i no that may be more than you need to pay but if you want a well made name brand lead its good value and has a 12month Warranty.

Ah cheers mate, I will have a look.
Couldn't agree more. I sold a blu ray recently, she never paid, so I reported her to ebay and managed to get my fees back. BUT, when I looked at her feedback, 13 of the 14 "positive" feedbacks she had were actually negative, a serial non-payer.
I emailed ebay about this, and they replied by basically saying "we gave you your fees, what's your problem?"
I tend not to sell very often now, and only when it's free listing.

I've been using ebay since July 2001 and never had a bad experience yet. (As a buyer or a seller.)
