Yes, that's right. You can record up to 10 CDs in lossless format in Jaguar XF's HDD. Nowadays, even DAB radio comes as standard. I didn't know the speaker system was B&W. I thought Jaguar and B&W parted ways last year. You now get Meridian as an upgrade option.

Thanks for all your suggestions! I'm glad I tested all 3 before arriving at a decision. Here's a summary of my experience.
I drove my friend's BMW 520d when I was at a conference in Coventry last week. Very responsive with sharp steering, but not very comfortable. Wind and road noise was evident as well, probably as much as the E class. Didn't check the gadgets that come as standard.
Jaguar XF - Absolutely superb. Quiet cabin (quietest amongst the 3), very responsive and supremely comfortable. It's got the "wow" factor whenever you step in. Can't fault it at all. Lots of gadgets and touchscreen, so just a little apprehensive about them failing, and Jaguar still has to prove its reliability convincingly (although they have significantly improved over the years). Feels like a big car.
Mercedes E220 CDI SE - Comfort is between the BMW and the Jag. Comfortable enough for long rides. A bit of wind and road noise but overall well insulated cabin. Doesn't feel like a big car at all. Well loaded with features as standard, offering more than the Jag as well.
In summary, Jaguar is the best of the 3, but the E class won due to 1) better deal overall, and 2) a manual gearbox (although I personally don't mind an automatic anymore).
Just discovered this comes as standard now :
New technology on the E-Class includes Active Park Assist with Parktronic as standard, which measures potential spaces to the left and right of the direction of travel from 0-20 mph. If a suitable space is detected, and reverse gear is engaged, the vehicle will be automatically steered into the parking space, with the automatic braking function active throughout. There is also an automatic exiting function to leave the space if Active Park Assist was previously used to park.
What's your opinion on "Jag is for oldies" then (they are the exact words my friend used when I asked his opinion)?
To them, I say "EDITED". Toyota Avensises are for oldies.
Agreed, everything after the (fairly rubbish) X Type is certainly not for oldies.
In fact, I'd say Mercedes has an old man feel to it. Apart from those with an AMG badge!
I think for me it would be between XF and BMW. Although i would probably go for BMW, 520d M Sport with auto.
Sonos & Apple TV -> Cyrus 8XPD (with PSX-R) -> Cyrus X Power -> Spendor A5
Sony Blu Ray & Sky HD & Apple TV -> Sony Surround Amp -> Jamo Surround Speaker Kit.
Personally I think I'd have a Skoda Superb estate. But then I'm a cheapskate EDITED.

Someone in my street has an Octavia RS estate, he only paid about 21K for it I think (and that was first hand 3 or 4 years ago), a lot of car for the money.
... Jaguar still has to prove its reliability convincingly ...
Huh?? Clickety and click

Indeed, it's quite a radical concept - pay staff a decent wage, treat them with respect and in return they'll work hard and diligently, then throw in some efficient management and investement, and voila... you have a successful car company.
All hail Ratan Tata KBE
Reliability and satisfaction are two completely different things. I can easily see why it tops in satisfaction. Just test drive it once...
All's forgiven for the Jag.
Individually, Jaguar scored 89.62% in reliability in Auto Express survey (42nd).
