And so far it appears that BigBoss hasn't thought of himself as an oldie.......................!
Let's hope he can avoid knocking over the row of Zimmer frames lined up outside the lounge.

Is that in a good way or...?
Absolutely awesome!! The E class in comparison doesn't feel like an upgrade from the C class at all (although I drove the sports suspension model). They don't have any nearly new SE versions (non-sport). They're now working out if they can sell me a brand new car for a not too dissimilar price. My heart is set on the Jag though. It's got a soul. I'll see what they offer. Will type in the details later when I get home.

And I am still waiting to see whether he felt like an oldie in any way shape or form...............
I too have my eye on buying a Jag but I think I'll wait till I'm in my 60's. (if I last as long)

So far :)
Just drove the SE version. Much much better than the Sports trim. Better suspension. Road noise still there but a bit better. They're currently working out what's the best they can offer me on a brand new car. The Jag drives better without doubt, but I suspect I might get the Merc for cheaper. Decisions decisions!! I'll see what they offer.
Mercs are ten-a-penny (great cars but very common* and few people can distinguish one from any other), whereas the Jag XF is gorgeous looking and not too many around.
*Mercs, Audis and BMWs (unlike Jaguars) all belong to huge model ranges and only 'motoring nerds' can really tell the difference between the basic and expensive models.
How about a jag XF R?
Sorry......silly sugestion(you want a diesal)i'm interested in the Audi A5,lot of car and spec for the money, very economical too

If I were a doctor, with a 60-mile commute in rain/snow/ice/wet leaves/floods, etc, I'd want an Audi A6 Quattro Allroad - ie, 4-wheel-drive with adjustable ride-height - shod with winter tryres from Nov' to March.
But if it were a toss-up between a 5-series or an E-class, I'd go for an XF, which was styled by the fella whose portfolio includes these three:
You have taste sir
If in doubt, go for the one that holds onto more of its value, come trade in time.
With luxury cars like Mercs.....leather and an auto box are a must when selling on (or used to be).

What's your opinion on "Jag is for oldies" then (they are the exact words my friend used when I asked his opinion)?
To them, I say "EDITED". Toyota Avensises are for oldies.

Ordered the car!
I didn't realise it's end of the month, & they have sales targets. They offered me a brand new E class for only £600 more than what I would have paid for a 62 plate used car (although the 62 plate was a Sports trim but same Diesel engine). They offered better than market value rates for both my cars in part exchange (despite the scratches & dents which would've reduced the price below market value).
They couldn't find my colour choice in manual throughout the Country, so offered me an automatic with split rear seats for just a few quid extra. But my OH categorically didn't want an automatic. So they're sourcing the car from Germany. I have to choose the colour of the leather trim & let them know by Wednesday.
Yes, the Jag is better to drive but a used model was proving to be 20% more expensive than the brand new E class. It was a no brainier really.
