]Well seeing as your used to abit of hard graft you could save alott of $ by hacking of the render(which if blown should almost fall off)
My experiance of renedering is that it's not cheap,20k+ for a detatched house so the more you can do the better..
Same realy for any repairs you have to do on the house, the more prep you do,the less it will cost for a trade to complete.
It's the hard graft that partly led to my recent back surgery, so that's out of the question atm.....but appreciate the suggestion.

I'm getting a horrible feeling that you are funding this and not your buildings insurance. I hope to god I'm wrong?
The Hifi fund will be depleted for many years to come; and then some.
I am SO sorry for your situation, it is really bloody awful.

I think that's a productive way of looking things.
There's a tendency to think "Why me?" (or "Why us?") when things feel overwhelming, or when problems and concerns are manifold and seemingly unending. I tend to think "Why not me?" (or Why not us?"). Bad things happen to good people all the time; and there are countless people dealing with horrendous circumstances, often for years, even decades, without support or respite. Fair doesn't come into it unfortunately.
That doesn't mean you're not entitled to vent or seek advice; nor does it mean you can simply shrug your problems off.
How is your back these days? I'm not suggesting you should undertake heavy work. (Indeed you really shouldn't.) Hopefully things have improved and you're in less discomfort.

Very slow, but forward progress (thx for asking)......30 years of deterioration can't be overturned in a couple of months, I suppose.
Cno, I am so sorry to read all of this!
I hope that it will be all fixed relativley soon and you can both come back to enjoying peace and music as usual!

Alex my friend, it is very good indeed to hear from you....and thank you for your concern.
I would very much like to hear how yourself and Rob are getting on, and miss both your inputs on here......it made a nice change from Religion, Politics and general "willie waggling".
Cno, we are pretty much where we were...lately not enough time to take care of hi-fi, write on forum, keep the two business running, organizing holidays etc.
I have set on speaker cables (the PSAudio) and now in the market for matching or high quality RCAs cables and power cable without spending a fortune! For the rest, I have started another business bit more than 1 month ago which is going well above my initial expectations...so a lot going on at the moment. To be honest, also forum had become a bit "boring" with all usual stuff going on, ethernal dispute on cables believers and not, passive vs actives etc...
How is life treating you if we don't consider this "little" problem? How is your back going?
My back is improving very gradually, but it will be a while yet before I could contemplate Golf or Skiing........It means I'm on here more than is healthy, and fighting the good fight.
I'm delighted your business(es) are doing so well....and that they will continue to do so.
Did Rob ever manage to mitigate the Bass issues in his room?....IIRC He was looking at Auralex Grammas.
Look after yourselves, and report in from time to time.
Glad to hear your back is improving gradually!
As far as I know Rob also decided on transparent cables in the end and he's not complaining anymore about too much bass. He also has some little problem extra-hi fi now so not sure he's in the right mood to keep digging as we were doing a couple of months ago.
I am still not sorted on RCA cables and thinking about testing again the Tellurium Q or the transparent...as cannot get my hands on PSAudio RCA cables (the shop has only XLR for now). But at the same shop I heard a 7k euro valve CD player which in my opinion will give an hard time to the Linn Akurate DS...I said I will do the direct comparison one day...
