Watching England getting whacked by Oranges Big Smile, unbelievable it looks like some school team is playing against a test nation.

Yep, little bit of resistance now by England, up with the run rate, but still a way to go.

India or South Africa for the World Cup though!

Re: Cricket World Cup 2011

India v England was brilliant, but why did we take the batting powerplay. I reckon we would have won that if we'd delayed it until the 46th over.
We need to sort out our bowling because we will not consistently chase down totals of 300ish.

The team looked a little light on in the middle order with Broad an Bopara out. Still, brilliant match, and, given India has the best batting line-up, together with SA, in world cricket at the moment, the bowlers didn't do that badly.

We missed Morgan's calmness under pressure in the middle order, would've definitely won if he was playing, batting line up looks very light weight to me.

Re: Cricket World Cup 2011

It was a brilliant match today.....could've gone either way. Leaves with a lot of "what ifs".......what if Zaheer had not run short while taking the last run? What if India's batting did not collapse the way it did? What if England's batting did not collapse the way it did? I think the result was only fair.

Lot of contenders for the cup, India being the favourite. An ideal semi final would be between India, Pakistan, England & a toss up between Australia & South Africa.

It'll be a fairy tale for India if it wins the cup in Mumbai.......I won't be surprised if Tendulkar announces retirement then at the place where he grew up to be a legend.

Re: Cricket World Cup 2011

We definitely missed Broad today and once he is back I think we have a very good bowling attack. Anderson was expensive today but there were many chances for wickets from his bowling.

Where we are going to struggle is with our batting. Strauss was brilliant again today. SInce becoming captain his has improved massively in tests and 50 overs. If he can pull 150 out the bag each game then great but that is unlikely. Where we are going to struggle is the lower order and I think ultimately we are going to miss Morgan who I think is one of the main reasons we have become much better at 50 over cricket.

And one of the best "English" batsmen is Irish, Eoin Morgan.

Well done anyway, maxflinn, your countrymen taught us a lesson or two and thoroughly deserved their win.
