Cost of Music
I was playing a CD the other day and found the receipt in the case. I cant believe that only a few years ago some single CDs were costing £14. The cost of CDs really have come down. Anyway, it got me thinking..... what is the most you have paid for a piece of music in the format of your choice? What was it? and was it worth it? On the other hand what bargains have you found?

Sixty quid for Famous Blue Raincoat on three discs. Arrived last week, won't be played for a month, so I don't know yet.
I paid quite a lot for some ultra heavy Metallica records and I don't even have a turntable in the house! ![]()
Also some picture discs from early Iron Maiden which cost more than a meal for 4 with a bottle of Chablis! Silly me ![]()

Still French though! For some reason any french wine are not selling well for the last 3 years even if they are well price against the like of (imo over price) New Zealand's wine.
Off the top of my head I think it was a copy of Iron Maidens `Virtual X1` on double vinyl which set me/my son back £90.00.
I handed down my massive Iron Maiden collection to my son so that I could see him enjoy it now rather than when I`ve gone and I can`t remember now who bought it, him or me? When I handed the collection down there were a few gaps including the above named album which sold badly and is therefore rare and expensive to find on vinyl.
Paid £55.00 for a copy of All About Eves `D for Desire` on 12" vinyl.
Are the above worth it? Yes, they have helped complete two collections and for every one record I may have paid over the odds for there will be two others which I will have found in the bargain bin. Swings and roundabouts.
In 1978 I went to Gothenburg, Sweden to buy a copy of ABBA`s `Ring Ring` album which wasn`t available in England. Mad? No, not really. My parents paid for the weekend trip by ferry for me as a birthday present not knowing to this day why I chose Sweden! I was the envy of my friends at school I can tell you! Well, amongst the ABBA fans that is. The album is still in my collection with the shop sticker on the plastic sleeve the record is kept in.
Bargains? Too many to mention. Woolworths used to be a great place to buy cheap records. Most recent vinyl bargains have included a copy of Fairport Conventions `Liege and Lief` brand new re-issue from HMV for £5.00! and Randy Edelmans `Farewell Fairbanks` second hand in mint condition at the now sadly closed down Sellanbys in South Harrow for 75p! But as I say, too many to mention really. I`ve picked up umpteen albums for all sorts of prices.60p, 50p,30p you name it.
Metallica - Ride the Lightning forÿ£13. Definitely worth it.ÿ

CD was just a medium of storage, but the most important thing is what music that satisfies our taste for money. Some recording companies have started to sell music in MP3 format via sms/mms with rasonable charges, in which customers can save much cost of buying CDs.
