Does anyone else who buys CDs find the cardboard sleeves a bit irritating? Sometimes difficult to get the CD out of the cardboard without using your fingers and putting prints on the CD. I prefer the old-style plastic cases.

I can see why they use them - to look more like only vinyl albums - if only I didn't get prints on my cds or rip the cardboard covers by mistake!

... and of course you can't see what it is by reading the side of the case, you have to pull them out and leaf through to find the one you want!

Totally agree. Although, I'd always assumed the use of card was on enviromental grounds.

Agree 100%, there are some terrible packaged CDs out there. I think that some of them are designed so you have to replace your scratched CDs every couple of years. Angry

The humble Jewel case is pretty much perfect for CDs, but when bands release special editions in digipacks with bonus DVDs and such, the plain jane CD doesn't look quite so good.

Agree.  Can't read the title (if any) on the spine when they are on the shelf, and have to put fingers on the playing area when getting them out of the sleeve.

Plus, the sleeve always seems to rip at some point in the process.

I've just recieved lord upminster by ian dury from amazon & it's arrived in the cheap & nasty cardboard case with a plastic thingy in the middle, i'm really annoyed because it doesn't fit with my other cd collection.  Angry

As you guys have allready pointed out it only takes a little rough handling to tear the case also you sometimes get an insert with track listing etc which every time you pick up said cd out it pops and you spend half you time trying to keep artwork + case together  the jewel case may get damaged but theres so many nocking about with all the freebe cd's nocking about that its not a hardship to swop cases about
