Canon EOS camera repairs - worth it?

Sorry to poach in on another thread. My wife has a 400D. It has been a little temperamental, the above has fairly helped(gave the flash mount a clean). Can someone tell me why the camera does not shoot quickly, it is very slow to respond when taking a photo and sometimes will not, usually if the subject is quite close. I can only guess this is due to a setting, although it occurs when using the camera in auto(the green box). My wife is going on a slr course that a friend is running in the new year. In the mean time would be good to keep happy snappy!!

I might just be considering a new EOS at that price - 6 years since inceptionof 400D - something else may go wrong a week after you get it back. Considering you might still get £75-100 on an auction site + the £165 for repair = not much more for a new EOS with bigger, brighter, higher res LCD, Digic 4 processor rather than Digic 2, 18mp CMOS rather than 10.1mp + a host of others such as 1080P video capability....
Agreed.
Won't be long before a 600d body can be had for £400, so I'd maybe put the money towards that.
