Re: biz speak

Having just spent months and months on the periphery of the redevelopment of this site, I have had my eyes and ears opened to a whole new world of jargon. Showstoppers, smoke-testing and triage have been the order of the day.

Re: biz speak

Have been doing some of both today actually - smoke testing is a quick run through a new release to see if it breaks immediately or whether it's worth running through the formal system test scripts. Ours broke immediately.

Triage is a quick assessment of bugs to agree that hey are bugs and what severeity they are. In case you were wondering.

I hate "touch base". I normally inform the perpetrators of such an americanism that if they touch my base I will not be held responsible for my actions ...

Gets the point across...!

Ooh, for the first time I can type normally without the html codes! Yeay!

What was wrong with run-through then? Or trial? or test?..........

Then people might realise that *anybody* could do this stuff, and they wouldn't need me or my day rate.

Thing is though, JD, for idiots like myself, who have never had the opportunity to grace the music industry, some of the jargon gets lost.

I fear this thread is in danger of losing its perspicacity.

Re: biz speak

Would that it had any. Perhaps we should take a more holistic approach.
