My personal favourite is Manu Katche , definitely a candidate for best ever drummer IMO .
Buddy Rich and John Bonham go without saying, but for me it's Gavin Harrison - not just an awesome technician, but a supremely musical drummer as well.
Also like Simon Phillips, and a special mention for Carl Palmer, who was THE big influence on me in my formative drumming years.

Gene Hoglan (Devin Townsend, Death, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory. Testament, etc, etc) has been my drumming idol for almost 20 years. Speed, groove, feel, technique, the guy's got it all. The best drummers are the ones that can do everything with seemingly equal ease

Jon Hiseman from Colosseum was widely recorded as one of the best drummers. Had a jazz pedigree as well as rock.

Yes and yes! Great drummers. Haake probably edges it for me, cos i just have no idea how he does the stuff he does.
I have to say, without Roger Taylor or Lars Ulrich I probably wouldn;t be drumming now. Queen & Metallica were the bands I listened to in my youth that made me want to play music, waaaay back in '87 at the tender age of 13.

In my humble opinion the true one and only daddy is Buddy Rich.....genius.
