When you choose a film to watch, I bet you look at IMDB? Right? Anything above a 6 should be okay, above 7 should be good and high 7's or 8's should be great Smile

What about those films you watched in the 5's or lower? I'm often surprised how much I enjoyed them. So I thought I'd share some of my recommendations

(Of course being "bad" films, you may hate them Smile )

1st one I ended up buying the DVD after renting it. Get's a 5.8 on IMDB and stars a rap artist in the lead role...

"Surviving the game" It's Ice-T as the prey in a deadly rich mans hunt game.... Really entertaining Smile

another, more recent one, is "The day after tomorrow"... stupid acting, silly plot and can rightly be panned, but I loved it anyway!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319262/

One more for now..."Monsters". It's a low budget sci-fi film set after an alien invasion. The plot is slow and ploddy, but something grabbed me about it, and I loved the payoff at the end.

I recall Monsters getting lots of critical acclaim. I think the slowness is what contributes to the low score.

I tend to use Metacritic when walking around Blockbuster if I can't decide what to watch.

No, I never use imdb for that purpose. In fact, its not unusual for unreleased films to rate high on there, so it seems pretty useless.

Rotten Tomatoes is fairly useful as it aggregates many revues.  Not flawless though.

I'm a huge Statham fan.  Crank especially.  I would argue all his films are "Bad" but very fun Smile

I have taken to totally ignoring what the critics say, as more often than not i have totally different views,

I recently watched the Guard, having read really good reviews on rotten tomatoes, and thought it was awful,

if the film was made in outer mongolia , about the life of an ant,  and funded by aliens for a festival somewhere, then rest assured the critics will love it,

totally agree about the Statham movies , never great reviews, but always enjoyable.

It's useless when it's unreleased, as is any other "review" site. But once people have started to vote, it's surprisingly useful.

One of the best sites on t'internet if you ask me.

I don't use IMDB either. Or any other review site, really. I can usually tell whether its my cup of tea from a quick look at the trailer.

Never use imdb either. However, I really enjoyed Love , Honour and Obey. It got panned by critics at the time but still makes me laugh.

I often use IMDB "during" a film to find out an actors name or what they were in that we've seen.

Stops me having brain block for an hour Smile

I mostly use IMDB to settle pub arguments Smile

Saw the new Statham movie 'Safe' last night, was AMAZING!  Dude has a gift, and it isn't acting...

And the most annoying, whiney-voiced and charmless male lead in cinema's history? And a 'monster' that resembles a walking octopus?

Meanwhile, I 'fess to many repeat viewings of The TransporterAliens vs Predator: Requiem and a J-CvD 1980s classic, Cyborg  shifty

Double Impact - splendid  excellent!

And Cyborg's character names have a wonderfully subtle and nuclear apocalypse-appropriate theme: eg, Gibson Rickenbacker (J-CvD), Fender Tremolo, Pearl Prophet, Marshall Strat puzzled

Double Impact is far too good to be truly bad! Maximum Risk was cool in a European setting too.

Now "Force: Five" - that's a bad martial arts movie, a low rent version of Enter the Dragon (same director, almost identical script) with some great martial artists in (including a rare lead speaking part for probably the greatest fighter ever that no-one knows - Benny Urquidez). Somehow the result is so bad it's watchable... Not sure if it quite warrants recommendation though! Laughing out loud
