Around 6' 2".   I was about 1/2" taller when I was in my early 20s but I have compressed a bit since then Sad

I am only unhappy about it when renting old cottages for our holidays or visiting really old pubs. (Invariably go home with a few lumps and bruises on my head from hitting beams.)

RE: are you happy with your height

I'm 5' 6" and a bit. Below average for a chap.

Normally I never think about it. I ski, and having a lower centre of gravity helps, I don't have to worry (as much) about back problems or low ceilings!

I really really notice it if I'm in a bar with other blokes. I'm craning my neck up and I actually feel a bit small. I'm not bothered about it; it's who you are that counts. I worry about my son though, he's 5 and still in 3 year olds' clothes - I'm worried if he doesn't start growing he's gowing to be way shorter than me.

Was trying to spark some interest from other skiers here: http://www.whathifi.com/forum/off-topic-and-miscellaneous/any-skiers-out...  and only Alma replied this year.......so if you had some great snow, feel free to report it (over on that thread).

Sorry to OP for the hijack........BTW I'm suing the council for building the pavement too close to my ar$e.  ohhh sure

I don't spend much time thinking about my height, which I guess means I'm pretty satisfied with my stature. I'm 6'1", which has advantages and drawbacks.

I can reach shelves without a problem, change light bulbs without the help of a chair, and people generally don't pick fights with me (unless they're 6'2" or above).

However, because the world is designed around people a little shorter, I have a bad back; and buying trousers that don't show my socks off can be difficult. In my mid teens I managed to break my arm a few times, which perhaps has something to do with being long limbed. Learning not to do stupid things (skateboarding and skiing off-piste with little experience) helped...

RE: are you happy with your height

I think I am quite happy being my height... I'm 6'3"

I am now aged 49 and have found going through my own journey in life.... that it seems to be the smaller-sized guys who are most annoying ... like small dogs. I don't think smaller folk like to be small.     puzzled             (lol)

I'm 6'2" and wouldn't want to be any taller.  There are plenty of times I'd like to be a bit shorter, usually after I've just banged my head.

This thread's becoming increasingly Freudian; perhaps it was very Freudian from the beginning...

Bit too short. For my weight I should be 8 foot 6 inches. excellent!

RE: are you happy with your height

5 11 works for me, but here in Japan it's like everything is designed for someone at least 10cm shorter than me. Still, I'm slim so clthing tends to fit OK (sleeves can often be a bit short...) and I don't hit my head except on doorways, except for in old houses.

Back in Australia I feel like a manlet at times, but I don't think I've ever wished I were taller.

I am happier with my current 6'1 1/2" than I was at the 6'3" of my teens to 40s (before age and 527 jumps took their toll!!).  At 6'3" you are almost always the tallest person around and easily noticed which is not always an advantage.

Funny Smile

Apart from the fact that this question is possibly due an award for "strangest question on a Hi-Fi forum", I am happy. I am 179 cm (5' 10.5"), and just over 90 KG of pure muscle(ahem).

When I was in my 20s I saw a statistic that put me bang on the average height for a man in the UK. When I was 18,19 I tried out (and failed) for the RAF, but one thing I got to do was sit in a dummy fighter cockpit...It was like it had been made for me! Smile

I have friends shorter, friends taller. I do feel a touch short these days as all the younger Swedish blokes are at least 185 and up. And don't get me started on my visits to Holland. They are surely not the same race!

By the way, one of my son's friends dad is around 6' 9". Big lad.

6' 2", which is most overrated and annoying for long-haul flights; the seats at Imax Waterloo; all forms of motorsport, except truck racing; riding a motorcycle (high CoG and you look/feel like a pillock - ditto skiing and skateboarding); trying to get comfortable in a VW Scirroco Mk1/Porsche Boxster and all early 911s/Triumph Spitfire/Fiat 124 Spyder/Alfa Syder/ any Ferarri/a Renault Clio/1st-gen Mini Cooper; a Morris Minor van; fairground dodgem cars.

Also a tad inconvenient when ego-fuelled, height-concious shorties are able to veto the employment of any co-worker taller than 5' 8" Angry
