I was wondering if this would work. I love to find new music, new styles, new genres, new artists, composers, bands etc.

I know youtube et al are not the last (or even first) word in sound quality, but I find them useful to checkout bands etc...

So, how about you check out the song (and maybe video) posted by the person before you, and comment? Then leave your own...

I'll kick it off with a post-rock tune from "God is an Astronaut" called "Fragile". The video is really moving (to me), as is the music. But if you hate it, then say so...

This may or may not work... Smile

God is an astronaut - Fragile

Liking your idea, but need to do this at home, not work........

Oh, talking of new music, we've all just been given access to our entire music library (150,000 tracks) - "Your own personal iPOd", unquote..........

OK. Watched the video. We're not very nice to animals are we. I'm sure it's far worse than that actually.

Having said that we are just as bad to each other.....really quite a nasty animal!

My wife happens to be looking over my shoulder at the time and said that in the study with the monkey and the infant, the infant became more like a monkey boy rather than the monkey behaving more like a human. Interesting...and underlines our innate ability for mimicry and learning.

Music was OK with the video. Possibly a bit morose for general listening. But I suppose with the right mood.......

My track is here Play "Civilisation Street"

I've been into this band in one form or another (Sub Humans - > Culture Shock -> Citizen Fish) since I was a youth. Not kept up with their later stuff, although I'm listening to a track online right now.

Ok while nobody else is joining in yet, I had a listen, and yep, they are pretty good, sort of reminded my of Madness, with a hint of Specials, from my younger days Smile I'll be sure to add them to friends on my Myspace page...Smile (95% bands)

Anyway, heres anbother slow post-rock / shoegaze tune... possibly one of the most beautiful tracks ever imo...

Gregor Samsa

...and select "Young and old"

Wow! A beautiful track that deserves further exploration. Yes It reminds me of this band but much, much better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7LQ9We7Tyc

My track is John Tavener's 'The Protecting Veil Section One' although I can't find a link to the whole piece. here's a snippet

Like it Guppy. Melancholic. I love the cello and violin too. Mstislav Rostropovich is my favorite cellist and whenever i hear the cello I think back to when he played Bach at the fall of the Berlin wall.

This is my offering. Band called Crusation. Song 'Purple'. For me Downbeat doesn't get much more sublime than this. (video's great too Smile ) Hope you like it!

crustation

Fantastic idea Fr0g!

Ok. Let me keep this going... Smile

Nice bit of downbeat trip-hop, reminds me of Morcheeba. Good music for having mates around chatting and drinking!

Ok... another downtempo number...

Vangelis and Stina Nordenstam - Ask the mountains

makes my hair prickle this one... Smile
