Any skiers out there?
good slippery surface does make a difference! especially on those connecting slopes where you have to keep speed to roll further to avoid pedalling on flat/upwards sections.

They're probably too busy arguing on other threads.
.............. and maybe Snowboarders feel excluded.......which they are not!
It would be great if more people shared their experiences.
OK Cno I'm here...
Haven't looked through this thread tho - too long!
Skiing and hi fi are the only things I'll spend money on without question. Life without 'em just aint worth living.
My wife and I have both skied since we were kids and we're both really good. I don't feel conceited writing that 'cos I'm total poo at every other sport on the plant, but I really can ski... Thought we'd have to give up skiing in 2008 when our boy was born, but luckily that only turned out to be a year's break as my in-laws bought a place in Morzine shortly after and we've been skiing there, mostly twice a season, since.
We went out at Xmas. I'm starting to slow down now but my boy who was then four, had a couple of private lessons and, despite it being his second week on snow, became a total maniac, shooting down the hills and through the trees without a care - amazing.
We're heading out again at Easter. I know the snow can be a bit rubbish so late in the season, but I actually quite like slush and the long days and (generally) warmer weather make up for it. So if anyone's heading to Morzine / Les Gets for Easter let me know...

Roger, thanks for reporting in.
I also have been skiing a long time, and took a lot of time (and lessons) to get rid of my "old school" technique. I play a fair amount of sport, but skiing has always been my favorite.....but everything has been on hold while my back is crook; and missing the skiing has been tough, so I like to hear about the adventures of others.
My guilty pleasure is a set of full-blown Atomic slalom skis.
I've been to Morzine / Avoriaz near Easter (20 years ago) and the snow was dodgy giving rise to a 2 hour queue to get down in the cable car from Avoriaz..... I'm sure things have improved since then. I do remember skiing "The Wall" in order to head over to Switzerland.
Les gets was where I discovered the Alps so is a special place for me. A friend of mine is a local there so I had the best possible introduction, complete with genuine food, cheese and wine. Great place, great snow, great memories!

In case you have never used it, this stuff is brilliant, and always worth bringing along....especially if the snow is a little sticky: http://www.amazon.co.uk/F4-QUALITY-FLUORO-UNIVERSAL-Snowboards/dp/B000XP...
It makes the skis considerably faster than any other wax treatment I've come across. It lasts about a day, but is very fast and easy to apply (put on top of normal treatment).
