Unfortunatley i can't read that link as i don't do the bbc,
I've never heard DSOTM so i can't really comment although i've heard a few songs off the adele 21 album & have been tempted to buy the CD on several occasions.
Adele's 21 is a great album, if your suffering from insomnia I can guarantee that after 3 - 4 tracks you will be sleeping like a baby

Agreed. And even more so when it goes 6th.

Why? Ken Dodd's 'Tears' out sold the Beatles, The Stones, Hollies... In fact it was THE biggest selling single of 1965. Yes, I know it's only a single but there's been so many examples of albums or singles that've out sold so-called 'classics' or trendier bands.
That's only a UK list, worldwide would be different, I think Thriller still holds that crown (although I'd have to check).
Single most illogical statement I've read in a long time.
That was the polite version incidentally...

Just buying it once should be enough
Now that's irony!
This has to be good news fot the music industry. Fancy DSOTM being Eclipse(d)
She really should be at No 5, Greatest hits albums shouldn't count.
I doubt the members of Queen would agree.
It's a list of sales figures, not an opinion.
It's almost worth buying just to help it bump Dire Straits down the list.
Greatest hits albums shouldn't count.
With the number of single releases (and individual tracks being available for download rather than just albums) you could argue that all modern pop albums are in fact a Greatest Hits
At least it makes me feel a little better. I have all those top ten albums so perhaps my music tastes aren't that bad after all. I must confess, I did buy dark side of the moon out of curiosity as it was a tad before my time and the best I can say is it's OK - sorry if that upsets anyone, but there you go

I was surprised that a) Queens greatest hits was no. 1 (guess it sold lots after Freddie died) tho it's great, and b) how low Thriller was in the list.
I wonder if my surprise at Adele being so high isn't because I don't appreciate her work (I don't have any great feelings either way) but because she's new on the scene so may be a short lived phenomenon.
Personally, I think you need to be of a certain age to appreciate DSOTM. I've never got it TBH. On the up side, it lead to Sex Pistols etc!
Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
Things will never be the same again
