Actual cinema sound

Was at the showcase cinema in bluewater yesterday, seeing WALL-E - all very entertaining.

I was wondering during the show what their audio set up was. Clearly something pretty powerful, but the quality of sound was impressive, particularly at the higher volumes. Does anyone know what sort of speakers/amplification they use?

Was also wondering what the source was nowadays at cinemas.
