2 geeky questions: IE crashing under XP, etc.
My laptop has got XP SP2 installed. More and more, Internet Explorer has been crashing/not starting properly. This is has been happening A LOT when:
- posting emoticons on this forum
- adding/uploading images onto my ebay listings
Any ideas on what the root of the problem is and how to solve this?
Second problem/question: Is it safe to update to XP SP3? I don't want more problems afterwards and would rather stick to SP2 for now, unless of course the newer one is "trouble free" (yeah, right...).
NickD2544:Quit using IE and use Firefox, Safari, Opera, Maxthon2 or Google Chrome all a LOT better than IE. I would recommend Opera and Safari although Firefox is very popular.
Thanks Nick.
I knew someone would come and recommend me to change browsers. I actually like the way most sites look in IE. Safari, which I also use, doesn't look right somehow with most sites.

I personally have updated to SP3 and not had any problems that I know of relating to this upgrade.
Thought Chrome was leakier than a sieve , anyway why not put on IE8 RC1 and see how that goes. Unless you are doing anything particulary unusual with your PC loading SP3 shouldnt pose any major issues , seems to want permissions reset on some system files sometimes but it fails and tells you and you can download a Microsoft PGM that does reset then you just do install again.
self edit. The HTML on the site has suddenly gone bananas so I have removed my update.

Bananas how?
Like an Apple ![]()
professorhat:Like an Apple
Works fine on this one
Serious question though, now it's my job....
Seriously? I can't imagine an apple that goes bananas.
I guess it's like a lizard that likes painting. Unimaginable.
Hi,
Is an apple going bananas like the Development Manager for Haymarket Digital Media going ape coz nobody will tell him the fault?
Cheers,
Cofnchtr.
See I knew my new sig would make people go 'oooOOOooo'. I was *told* to, ok?!?!?!![]()
Test bold
Test underline
Test italic
Test strike
I am not seeing the underline working.
Last night I typed a couple of (hopefully) helpful paragraphs about running chkdsk /r and everything after the first bold came out bold despite the HTML containing the correctly placed statements to end bold.
It made the whole thing look a mess.
Also when I insert a URL into the 'insert/edit link' box (in 'link URL' field) and insert the 'title' in the title field, the title never appears. I have to go into HTML and overtype the title in manually (the site HTML inserts a duplicate of the URL whatever I put in the title field.)

See? That should say 'Clicky'. I typed clicky into the title field and hit 'insert'.
I can do it manually by altering the HTML myself...
Standard set-up here. XP Pro SP3 with most recent updates and Firefox 3.0.7
