Buy her a nice THX certified AV reciever - she'll love it!

Even better, ask her for the receiver - you'll love it.

In fact, first anniversary gifts are traditionally made of paper, so print this out and give it to her lovingly gift-wrapped, and then say 'Of course, to enjoy your present completely, you'll need...'

Job done!

For our first wedding anniversary, my husband bought me a gorgeous pair of shoes (which of course come wrapped in tissue paper). A total surprise, but a fabulous one...

Oh, and he always buys flowers, too. Can never go wrong with those!

The modern first anniversary present is a clock, so maybe an HD Freesat PVR? They have clocks on them.

It's also diamond, which you don't have to do until about 60...........

Trust me - diamonds never boring. Just make sure it's in keeping with other styles of jewellery she wears (ie not too dramatic if she prefers understated, or vice versa).

Yeah I did think of a clock upgrade, but thought that might be just a little too obtuse.

If you are going the champers route, see if you can source a bottle of Billecart Salmon Rose. It is fantastic - normally sold out in any Oddbins so your best chance is to buy online. It is fantastic though and you will probably never buy non Billecart Salmon after sampling it.
