You can stream from your phone to the Sonos system but i cannot recall whether it can be done with just the Connect .
Yes you can.

I know you initially dismissed it, but its worth mentioning the Airport Express can receive feeds from windows and android devices. Airfoil for Windows allows you to stream your systems audio feed (all of it) and there are plenty of Android Airplay alternatives. If you dislike Apple, buy it off eBay so they make no money off of you

Two products spring to mind:
1. Sonos Connect. This has already been mentioned by others. It'll allow you to send music from your phones/laptops using the sonos app to the connect, which in turn is connected to you amp/speakers.
2. Pure Jongo A2. A device similar to the connect (but alot cheaper). Works on the same principle as above, but more limited where it can stream music from - currently only the local device (music stored on the phone/laptop) or from Pure's music service.
Hello again, been busy these days. So: Sonos products seem to be too sophisticated and expensive for my budget and needs, the Jogo A2 and QED seem to de designed to do exactly what I want them to do although they are exactly at or over the price ceiling that I have set...
Funnily enough, Apple provided me with a solution here : I typed "airplay" in Amazon and guess what poped-up as 3rd result:
Just what I want to do, and for a 1/5 of the price of similar products. Surely it has no WiFi / LAN capabilities but I don't need them. Also, my speakers don't have a SPDIF input, but only RCA and mini-jack ones so its RCA line out will be totally sufficient..!
I think I'll be buying this very soon! Thanks for all the replies, at least I discovered what other products exist out there for future upgrades.
PS. On a 2nd thought, the Jongo A2 would be the ideal product due to: 1) Wireless capability meaning no audio compression like BT does and 2) providing coaxial and spdif outputs for when I upgrade to better speakers or hi-fi system. Now that I think about it, I may wait a little and buy that one instead of the cheap but limited Logitech's solution... hmmm...
