Why do certain CDs distort when ripped to WMP?

I just want to put a few CDs of stuff on my phone, the bulk of CDs aren't a problem, but a handful are badly distorted when ripped onto WMP, specifically Porcupine Tree's 'Deadwing', Mastodon's 'The Hunter', and a Devildriver CD (can't remember which one).

Deleting them from the library and re-ripping them doesn't solve it.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Big Chris,I have the same trouble with many of my cds. I found the common link between them is they are all part of the Warner groupe and so are the three albims you mentioned! Still looking for an answer, have you found one? ATB Rockinrick.
