What software is availalbe to convert FLAC files stored on a NAS and transport to PC as an MP3? Or even, what would be the best solution?

I have 500G of FLACs and have 320GB of space on my PC, but will still need space for expansion.

OS is Linux (Ubuntu 11.04)

You could buy a 1TB external hard drive for your PC for around £40. That way you can keep all of your music files stored as FLAC.

I'm not going to be deleting the FLAC files and they are, to all intents and purposes already on an external HDD, accessible over an ethernet network.

The main reason for converting or transferring, is to reduce latency and lower power consumption. I could of course, buy an internal 1TB drive.

If you really want to transcode FLAC to MP3, Foobar2000 will do this - you can run it on Ubuntu under Wine.  I used it to generate MP3s for my iPhone.
