Evening.

I currently have all music in Apple Lossless on PC. 160gb Ipod isn't big enough to have everything on, but i want to convert to best possible quality on Ipod.

Is there a way to do this "on the fly"?

I know Itunes will let me convert to 128kbps, but i was hoping for something of higher quality?

Of course, i can keep a second copy of everything at a lower bit rate, but i really don't want to double up on everything to manage the library.

Any ideas?

RE: MP3/MP4

iTunes will let you transcode your ALACs to any bitrate AACs or MP3s you desire. But I don't trust iTunes for transcoding. Never sounds right to my ears for whatever reason. If you could cough up the cash I'd look at dbPoweramp.
