Computer Speakers V's Dedicated iPod Dock ( What HiFi Please )
I'm looking to either purchase a iPod Dock or Computer Speakers to play Apple Lossless or 320kps music files , budget at the mo is £300. would spending money on computer speakers be a better option than buying an iPod dock to get the most from your money?
I would be tempted by Audio Engine A2s with either an Airport Express (for Airplay) or an Apple Universal Dock for a wired connection. Simple and good value for the money in my books.
My computer sits across the room from were I would put a dedicated iPod dock so it really wouldn't make to much of a difference though I do like using mainly Internet radio stations with the odd cd rip to listen too. Most of my music I put on my iPods and use them at either while walking or down the gym.
Isnt it the audio engine 5 you can add the apple air play plug to the back and also place them on speaker stands for better quality in sound?
Though the question is comparing say something like the focal xs book to the geneva s how would they compare in sound quality are the computer speakers on par with the dedicated docks or are the iPod docks ahead in terms of quality and filling space ?
Also check out the Aktimate Mini.
I have some of these and have been very impressed with the sound. Much better than I expected.
I have listened to the aktimate mini vs the b&w zeppelin mini and zeppelin which I did prefer the wider stereo separation, though how much better are the mini's over the micro? As the micro have updated electronics and use USB for connecting .
Are there any shops nr Doncaster , sheffield or lincoln that could let me listen or what hifi share the knowledge please

It really depends on how you prefer to listen to music. Both have distinct advantages & disadvantages. You can connect computer speakers directly to your iPod, but you can't generally connect your iPod dock to the computer.
