I am increasingly using my pc to listen to music (upstairs!) so I am hoping to upgrade my very basic speakers and possibly a soundcard.

The soundcard on my Dell PC is a SoundMAX Digital Audio and I am using cheap £20 speakers. I am not intending to spend too much - around £150 - 200 max. What would anyone recommend?

Also, I am hoping to buy the iChord to hook my iPod with my hifi system (downstairs!). Will it make a significant difference from the basic Maplins 3.5mm jack to 2xRCA?

Many thanks

Acoustic Energy Aego M speakers £100.

And yes the iChord will make a big difference.

My HP PC came with a Realtek chip on the Asus motherboard for sound and it actually sounds quite good. Haven't felt any need to upgrade to a dedicated sound card.
