I am looking for the best way to connect my iPhone to my Denon 1910, as I am looking to get either the Squeezebox or a Sonos package in the new year either a simple dock system or just a cable connection will do

Thanks in advance

Re: Best connection iPhone to Denon 1910

I have (for my iPod classic, so check compatibility) a Denon ASD-11R dock for my 1909.  The interface is terrible, it takes an age to find any tracks.  I replaced the standard RCA cables with Chord Crimson which made it sound a lot better.

In any case, it's an expensive solution - altoghether about £110.  I also have a Russ Andrews GQ-24 and think it's the better sounding option (but I lose out on charging).

I also have a Denon xx10 series AV receiver and was looking at the ASD-11R as the way to connect my iPod and get the amp/ipod connectivity with functional features. So is the Denon dock a non-starter from your perspective given your comments above. I did consider the Onkyo dock which allows the direct digital feed but I cannot justify spending over £100 on a dock.

Any feedback greatly appreciated. I would prefer a dock based solution + remote.

Perhaps the standard Apple Dock is all you need.

As Big A says the Denon docks sound OK but are pants to use. So slow. Mines really only used for internet radio and displaying movies and such for the liitle laddo. I'm thinking of getting something like an Apple TV and a Russ Andrews cable to replace it.

Is the iphone not a wireless device? It should be able to connect to the squeeze box wirelessly and then connect the squeezebox to your amp via the digital or analogue out.

There are only two options to date for optical out on an iPod/iPhone and they are the  Onkyo and Wadia? docks. Other options are 3.5mm jack/phono cables plugged in to the line out socket of the iPhone. Best option will be wireless to Squeezebox.

As  far as i know it can't stream the music out wirelessly. Not even to an AE. Also Cambridge Audio have a dock which can output a digital signal.

According to the CA website, the audio out is only analogue line out via 3.5mm jack.

Also check out this link to stream music from the iphone....
