Altec Orbit M

Just had to put in a post here about this little active (Battery Powered) speaker, I got fed up with the old portable speakers we take on holiday, they were only ever used so the kids had some sounds while they went to sleep but they made me cringe every time I turned them on and even my 6 year old said the vocals sound "Funny".>>

I went looking to something Cheap and cheerful but still better was not bothered about stereo, Stumbled across the Altec Orbit M, it has a short but useable 3.5mm Jack on the bottom and runs on 3x AAA batteries allegedly for 24Hours and the best bit it was £15 from Play So I ordered one.

It arrived last night in an unfeasibly large box and while its not Hi-Fi I was really pleasantly surprised by how it sounds the range is what you would expect for small driver which is upward facing they say it gives 360 degrees of sound and it does work well. It goes louder that I will probably need and most importantly it does not draw attention to itself by trying be something it is not, it is perfect for the holidays and will probably get plenty of outings in the garden for BBQ's etc as a background source, i may even buy a second one. >>
