Yes indeed, a fine cassette in it's time and probably still - but what does "Resonance absorbing precious cassette mechanism" mean?

Re: Fond memory of TDK cassettes

I still have hundreds despite throwing out five hundred or so last year. Thing is there are so many albums on those cassettes that I taped from friends LP`s and CD`s. I don`t want to go out and buy the albums but don`t want to get rid of them either so for the time being my cassette collection is here to stay. Bought a nearly new twin NAD cassette deck on ebay nearly two years ago at a bargain price which was a result. When I first set it up and played a Gary Moore tape my missus assumed it was a cd as it sounded so good.

Oh and TDK all the way. But never 120`s P.P.!

Was converting my tapes into MP3 over the weekend. Here is my DIO's Lock Up the Wolves cassette.

Dunno what I did with all my old tapes. Probably ended up in my Mum & Dad's loft like everything else from ages 3 - 23.

I always used 'CDing II' tapes, but did have a few BASF ones, which I liked because the BMW race-cars of the era had the BASF paintjob/sponsorship (red with white radiating circles IIRC).

Take a look at this site - http://www.c-90.org/catalogue/tapes/TDK

It's just incredible.  I don't know which is worse, the fact there is a site as comprehensive as this - or the fact that I know where it is!

 Strangely addictive...

Loved casettes and have a really expensive one infront of me. It has loads of buttons and stuff. It makes excellent copies Smile  Onkyo TA-2090

In actual fact, someone just suggested getting the local printers to put all of these on an A1 print and frame it - it might look (in style) like one of those joke student posters with different types of beer mugs on it, but might equally look very cool if framed nicely!

But of course doing so might infringe copyright...

Re: Fond memory of TDK cassettes

I'm still very keen to buy a good example of a Nakamichi Dragon or ideally CR7E but not convinced I'll actually use it. Its one of those things I really wanted but couldn't afford when they were popular - much like a laserdisc player. Is anyone still activly (i.e. on at least a weekly basis) using cassettes in their system or even a reel to reel player of some sort?

We have a much-loved (and used) Revox B77 and a Nakamichi Dragon. Analogue joys, the pair of 'em...

Glad to hear they're still being used! The Dragon is on my wishlist along with a Pioneer RT-909 reel to reel.
