Yamaha DVD-S795: Stopped recognising Region 2 discs

I've had this player for some while and never had any problems. However in the last week it has started displaying the message "This disk may not be played in your region" when I insert the disk. This happens with some disks only, including ones that I have played successfully before. It seems completely random which disks are affected.

Anybody have any ideas, please ?

RE: Home cinema

Did you update the firmware recently? If not, then it probably needs a clean or service repair. Are the discs scratched?

RE: Home cinema

Thanks, BB. Not done an update, so I guess you're probably right about it needing a clean.
