Last week I bought a Pioneer BDP-320 blu-ray player. The blu-ray player works well however playing DVD's isnt so great especially compared to my previous Denon 1930.

I can exchange the unit at the store I purchased it from and am now considering spending a few bob more and wondered what your thoughts were on the Sony BDPS5000ES, as they have been discounted to a very reasonable price compared to the original list price?

The Sony seems to be a favourite and wondered if the price increase would mean a descent jump in picture quality compared to the Pioneer?

In absolute terms, yes, but it really depends on the rest of your system...

Well I have an Themescene HD82 projector with an 8ft screen, Pioneer VSX-919 amp connected via Van Den Hul HDMI flat cable and the speakers are B&W 600 S3's.

The Sony would be approx £450 more then the Pioneer.
