RE: Home cinema

If I ask to "grab the link" I get http://www.flickr.com/photos/30273217@N05/5689905500/

If I ask to grab the HTML then the link you used is buried in the middle of it. Must be something I'm doing wrong.

Andrew, please could you move that to the "Accessories/new TV rack" thread started by True Blue or do you want me to do it using your link?

Thanks for your help

Yes, you shouldn't be grabbing the link, but copying the image location. On a Mac in Firefox it's ctrl+click, then select 'Copy Image Location'; don't have a PC to hand to check whether it's the same (alt-click or right mouse button, maybe?).

The clue is that the URL you attempt to link to using the image uploader should end with '.jpg', '.gif' or whatever, indicating it's an image file...

I remember this when trying to explain how to post images to someone before - I used Flickr at the time and they changed it so the Grab the HTML link didn't actually give you the just the HTML code you needed, but a load of other gumpf.

I moved to Photobucket instead which does give you a Direct box which just has the direct HTML code you need and makes things much easier.

I have been watching a lot of blu-rays recently and wanted too insert some images of the ones i been watching, into the what have you been watching thread, but cannot do it.  Any ideas here?, and yes i am on IE8, and no i won't be changing, unless it is an IE later release.

Cheers. Smile

If they're cover images you need to either link to a picture on another site, or take a picture of the cover and upload it to something like Flickr or Picasa, and then link to that image.

Blimey, it is getting a bit more complicated now. Smile.  Perhaps i should just stick with writing down what i have been watching.  Smile.

Cheers Andrew.

Not really: it's just that we don't have the server space to store all the pictures everyone might want to show on the site, so the way to do it is to link to a picture stored elsewhere. Seems to work OK for those who've tried it once they get the hang of it.

Oh okay, i was going to give up, but that does not seem too bad after all, i will give it a shot later.

Cheers again.

Just click on your photo in flickr and then click on "view all sizes".  Choose the size you want, right click on it and 'view image'. Copy the URL and paste it into the WHF "insert/edit image" box...

(Small size from Visionary's picture.)

It takes a few more seconds to do the two clicks, select a size, and then a right click/"view image" but it's not a reason to leave flickr Smile

Err, if you install ie9 you'll no longer have ie8, so that won't be relevant.

I will probably install it some time, although i am not one for changing things unless i really have too, could be interesting to see how good the new one is.   Yeah, i think i will do it some time tomorrow.

Cheers.
