Suggestions for new Flat Setup
Hi everyone
I am moving to a new flat soon, and am investing in some new kit.
I've burned my fingers before by having too many large speakers in a too small space (Rotel & Boston Acoustics Setup), and have more modest ideals this time round
I have a 50/50 split between music and movies as I'll explain below:
I've settled on B&W 685 bookshelves on proper stands - listened to these a bit and they sound great even in smaller living rooms.
CD-Player: Audiolab 8200CD/Q
Surround Speakers: B&W MT-60D (updated version of MT-30) so half the motivation is for the PV-1D sub
Reciever: Onkyo TX-NR818
I'm quite keen on using the Onkyo as the hub connecting everything (Sky/Xbox/PS3/AppleTV) to the 50" Plasma, but would like suggestions on the rest of the kit.
Questions:
(1) Am I aiming too high with the Audiolab CD Player (ie will the rest of the system let it down)?
(2) will the onkyo do the 685's justice in the audio department, or should I look at a separate Audiolab 8200P/Arcam A28/38 for the B&W 685's?
(3) Will the B&W MT-60D kit work with the Onkyo TX-NR818?
(4) Is the Audiolab 8200CDQ and B&W685's a decent combo? Will the Onkyo do it justice?
I'm looking for some opinions before I go out for a final listen...
Regards,
Marthinus
