How to convince the wife? Any tips?
The Jamo.D-500 system is a fantastic set up, finish is top notch in gloss black and they are wall mounted as well, not over powering looks wise and sound superb, but the best thing is they are wife/partner freindly, so you could try to convince her that not having floor standers any more would make the room look bigger and not so clutered, But then you have to work on the idea of having speakers on the wall, but as stated before take her with you when you dem.
I can't make my mind up whether that's one of the most devious, deceitful, scum-dog ruses I have ever seen anyone pull on their loved one short of infidelity, or the work of an absolute genius. I'll go with the latter. Consider my cap very much doffed to you.
So, you paid 500 quid MORE than the pianoman actually wanted for the piano? Or to look at it another way, it cost you 1500 quid to buy a 1k guitar?
Well I actually paid 12.5K for a 1K guitar:
1K to the guitar maker
9K's worth of free piano that I didn't want
500 for the piano seller to keep his mouth shut
The extra 1K from the 'haggle' which went to the wife as a good-will gesture for her to buy other stuff (sheet music etc)
Your wife or girlfriend is a battle re-enacter, she has 6000 painstakingly made model soldiers and wants to install an authentic 3D scale model of the Battle of Austerlitz in the living room.
It will cost £1000 and will need to be a static fixture. (Just like the battle of Thermopylae in the garage and Agincourt in the loft.)
Probably no less intrusive than a full-blown 7.1 system with projector and screen and humungous AV receiver and 8 speaker cabinets (plus cabling and stands and racks).
Are you going to "control your wife" or "grow a pair" or just delight in the fact that your partner isn't some vacuous bimbo whose only interests are shoes, gossip mags, reality show celebs and X Factor?

She is.......and only one soldier needed!

I still don't see how you've "won", if you'd just bought her the piano for the original asking price as a surprise you'd only have spent 10k in total once you'd bought your guitar?
Sex Strik!!!
My wife and I have our own money, no joint bank accounts. Her money is hers, mine is mine (and hers).
She understands that I work hard for my money, so she doesn't begrudge me spending money on av stuff. And of course, she gets to enjoy it too, and it doesn't cost her anything.

(Round and round until you get to a hump, lose control and fly off, crashing into the skirting board amid little bits of shattered plastic and a faint electrical burning smell? Or the the miniature car racing game?)
