Hdmi picture weirdness
Installed my new 15 meter hdmi today from amp to projector after checking it (don't want to get caught out with them sparkles again)
so after kids had a play on ps3 I spent the day installing it and when finished fired up the ps3 again and all was good.
30 minutes later thought I would put some sky on and that's ware it all starts going pear shaped.
the colours were all faint and kind of mixed in together ,trying a couple of other channels and they were all the same.
next I switched to bluray and that was even worse even the start up menu was a mess.
so back to the ps3 and it all looked good again.......until I put the same bluray disk in that and I got the same bad picture as the 350.
all source components go into my onkyo and out to a switch that goes to my Panasonic and my optima.
the Panasonic shows everything perfectly and the projector outputs great when hooked upto my laptop with a shorter cable.
any advise pls would be great,I will try and post a picture if I can.
cheers
Ok tweeted a pic and added link, that's a bluray and even though its not the best projector in the world it always looked pretty good in the past.
I hven't seen your tweet because I'm not a twitterer, but surely the simple answer is with your current cable you're getting too much signal-drop with certain sources, notably your blu-ray player and blu-ray films on either the player or the PS3. But I would have thought with digital cables like HDMI, signal-drop would give rise to breakup, freezes and blockiness, not bluring and faint colours. That sounds too 'analogue'. Hope someone can come along with better information for you than I can.
Have you tried bypassing the switch?, i.e connect the new HDMI directly to the Onk. I've found switches + long HDMIs can cause problems.
Cheers guys, not bypassed switched as I had to run of to work gonna give it a bash now
Weird, think the switch could be boosting it a bit because when I take it out I get no picture, projector just searches through the iinputs
Looks like the cable is faulty.
Was reading about cable cross talk last night and it sounds a bit like what I'm getting.
will give it a couple of days of searching for solution if no luck I will order a new branded lead
