USING THE NEW FORUMS
Submitted by Andrew Everard on Thu, 10 Mar 2011, 2:06pmThe operation of the Forums is pretty much as you've all been used to, and we've tried to keep the look and feel as close to the old one as possible.
If you haven’t yet logged in, you’ll find you need to do so with your USERNAME and password, not your email address as previously.
But there are a few new things to learn:
1) Avatar uploads should now work for everyone!
- To upload your avatar, go to your 'My account' page, click 'Edit' and scroll down to the section labelled 'Picture'.

Submitted by pioneer7 on Wed, 22 May 2013, 9:32amThese might be of interest to any one wanting to get these they are free, just register and save the image you want, by registering, the images are a higher quality, but even if you do not register the images are still very nice, there is a choice of aliminium-black and gold would look very nice framed for your bat cave or lounge, anyway check them out, I am sure this has been asked about a while ago but these seem to be the better ones I have seen avaiable.

Are Paramount blu rays region free?
Submitted by Oldboy on Tue, 21 May 2013, 12:55pmHello all,
I can't for the life of me remember which studios blu rays are region free as I somehow managed to delete the list from my laptop, I'm looking at buying the No Country for Old Men 2 disc collectors edition blu ray from the states but can't remember if Paramount dics are region free or not. Can anyone help?
Don't want to order it then find it won't play so any help would be much appreciated thanks.
B&W HTM62 centre speaker in light oak
Submitted by stevee1966 on Tue, 21 May 2013, 10:57amDoes anyone know if the Light Oak finish for B&W theatre speakers has been discontinued ?
I've been thinking of replacing my current 5.1 set-up. I've got a pair of B+W 685's which i've previously used for Hi-Fi so was thinking of buying a HTM62 centre speaker to match, but i can only find black or red cherry finish on these.
If they are not discontinued, could someone point me in the direction where i could find one ?
Thanks
Which style of surrounds to go for???
Submitted by atkins4725 on Mon, 20 May 2013, 8:21pmEvening,
I need help deciding on which would be the better surround speakers for my room (both MA, either rxfx or Apex A10s). My sofa is up against the back wall with a 4ft gap between the sofa and the where the rear left channel would be placed. The rear right channel would have a gap of 3.5ft from the wall and the sofa.
Left wall 3.5ft gap - sofa - 4ft gap right wall
i hope this makes sense. I'll attempt to post a pic.

How big is a 'small' 'medium' and 'large' room?
Submitted by Jon Spencer on Mon, 20 May 2013, 8:46amOK, I am always reading about equipment not being suitable for a big room but no one seems to want to define them!
I have a home cinema room that is being currently being built in my double garage and is around 40m2 or 6m x 6.6m approx with a ceiling height of 2.4m. What would you class it as because I think it is a 'medium' but NZ houses are quite a bit larger than the average UK house we were used to.
how would you define the room sizes?
Time to upgrade my speakers?
Submitted by strapped for cash on Sun, 19 May 2013, 11:50pmIt occurred to me, with all the replacing and recycling of HT components I've done of late, that I've stuck with the same speakers for 17 years.
That's not a typo folks. My B&W 600 series 3 speakers are reaching antique status; and it's testament to how well they've performed that I've kept them for so long. They still sell for a reasonable price on the 'bay, too.
Since it's generally accepted that upgrading speakers offers the greatest improvement in any system, hi-fi or HT, I'm thinking seriously about options. The question is, which speakers should I shortlist?
Home Cinema Room help
Submitted by FoxJA on Sat, 18 May 2013, 7:04pmHi,
Building work finished, I'm now finally ready to go out and buy the components. The room is 5.2m x 5m and will be a dedicated home cinema.
I am going to see the JVC DLA-X55R on Monday, having seen the X35 already I think think this will be the one I go for.
I'm thinking of the Pioneer SC-LX76 but am a little lost on what speakers to go for. I have always liked B&W speakers and see that the CM9 package with the CM5's has a good review on here. I could save some money and go for the CM8's & CM1's.
New Subwoofer - Stereo/AV conflicts
Submitted by mattjax05 on Sat, 18 May 2013, 3:36pmHi all
Just added a new subwoofer (Gemini ll) to my setup and need some advice please.
First of all I need to say that I connect my stereo amp to the AV amp so that the fronts can be used for stereo and movie duties.
On the AV I've set all speakers to small with crossover at 90hz. Sub is connected to AV via low level (one cable)
Sub is connected to stereo amp via high level (speaker terminals)
