Hi chaps,my system is as follows:

TV Panasonic TX32LZD85

Amp Denon 1910

Kef KHT 1005

Sony BDP S360

Sky HD

I am struggling to set this lot up. At present, when I play a BD(that has Dolby True HD)the amp shows multi in,so I assume I`m not getting True HD sound.I am not blown away by the picture or sound quality, its good, but not great! The connections are,HDMI from Sky to amp,HDMI from BD to amp, coaxial fromSky to amp,and HDMI from amp to TV.

Pleeeease help, before I drop kick the amp!!

   Kind regards,Richard

You need to change the setting on your blu ray player.....

I have the S350, and if you go into HD audio section, it will say either 'Direct' or 'Mix', if I remember correctly.

Change it to the other setting, and you will see the amp flash up True HD or DTS Master, rather than Multi in. (Don't forget to check each blu ray when you start playing it, so that it is set up to send HD sound too)

Basically, you have the player decoding at the mo. This change will get the receiver to decode.....it sounds much better, IMO......

personally I dong think that the Denon AVRs are the easiest to set up but you should be seeing DTS HD or Dolby True HD on you AVR. Check the manual and make sure that the sound is bring sent from the Sony player to the Denon to be decoded. Also check what the output on the Sony is for picture. Mine was default 480p or similar. Once you are watching 1080p, you should be happy.

Re: Denon 1910 .. why is it so hard???

Bangitontop: Denon's are notoriously difficult to set up, mainly due to the rather unhelpful user manual. Have you tried Batpig's "Denon to English dictionary" (available here: http://batpigworld.com/fadq.html). There's more than a few on this forum who've found it helpful.

 Cheers
