Afternoon all,

I've recently upgraded my Blu-ray setup from a PS3 to the Marantz UD7006.  Now, my issue is down to how I should best connect the sound up.  My base system is from 2006 and the question revolves around the processor amp I have (yahama RXV-2600).  This amp is great but doesnt support the latest audio formats on Blu ray.  However, it DOES have analogue multi channel inputs for 5.1 sound and the UD7006 has the option to output via analogue connections. So I have two and a half questions really. Is it best to...

1. Push the sound from the UD7006 out via HDMI (QED Performance 1m) as bitstream and let the amp do the best it can (probably outputting regular Dolby Digital?).

2. Push the sound from the UD7006 via the analogue outputs via decoded LPCM (I understand the UD7006 can internally decode TrueHD etc but dont know how good this would be).

So that's the question. Is the digital HDMI going to sound noticably different from higher quality (but analogue transported) Multi-out option? I dont have enough "good" RCA interconnects to test this myself so I'm seeing if anyone here has any opinions.

Finally, if it's option 2 anyone recomend a set of interconnects? I've used Chord Crimson for the CD - Amp (different one) connections but I know they are more music focused...

Cheers people,

Alec

PS if it matters the amp feeds B&W M1 speakers with a REL Quake sub...
