Best way to connect Roth sub zero soundbar to Pansonic Tv and DVD

I would like the best way to connect all three together.
1. Roth sub zero soundbar
2. Panasonic TX-L24C5B LCD TV which does have an optical output
3. Panasonic DMP-BDT220 BLU RAY PLAYER

I understand that you can just hook up the soundbar to the TV via haedphone jack to disable to TV sound but I am wondering if I will get better quality by in some way using an optical cable (either via the soundbar/dvd or soundbar/tv). Help
