Banana plugs - can I use them with KEF HTS1001.2 speakers
I've just got some banana plugs to simplify my speaker wiring but I cannot believe they don't seem to work on my KEF HTS1001.2 surround speakers. I
Or am I just being thick and can't work out how they fit?? I assumed banana were a universal size.. Help!
Thanks mate. What I wanted to know is how do the banana plugs fit at the bottom of the speakers. I haven't wall mounted them by the way. I've just never used them before and I'm struggling to work out how they fit (if in fact they do with these speakers)
If you mean the Kef 1001 eggs, the banana goes straight in horizontally in line with the whole pin (not at right angles through the side hole)- you may still have plastic plugs blocking the entrance (black/red).They are a tight fit after removing the plastic stud.(the plastic stud is in the screw in section.)
Now I'm getting somewhere. That's exactly what I've got and what I need to know now is how to remove the red/black plastic studs in the speaker connector.
A small screwdriver, lots of patience, tiny fingers or large ones with fingernails, and a celebratory beer when it's done.
They are springy connectors so do I try and push them out from underneath as they won't remove from the top. Or do I leave them as they are just use plugs at the receiver end. Time for more beer then!
They only feel springy because they are tight in there. If you can lever a small amount round the top ,then small longnose pliers can finish the job .(missed off my original tool list) Don't be afraid to pull hard.
Thanks for the tips. Maybe it's better left for daylight and patience. Cheers
I dont know these spks but with my screw terminals undoing the terminals pulls off the red & black caps. Acoustic Energy Evos.

If you have wallmounted the speakers, then you will struggle with banana plugs-but it is not critical ,they are equally as good with stripped wire connections at that end.
