Hello all,

New to this and this is my first post...so please be nice.

My system is:- Samsung LE40M86BD LCD TV, SKY HD, XBOX 360, Sony STR-DA1200ES Receiver, Acoustic Energy Aego T 5.1 Speakers.

My question is this:-

My Sony Amp/Receiver is going to be over the other side of the room from the rest of the kit!! So What is the best connection set up for this? I have a QED QUNEX HMDI-P 1m cable from my SKY to TV. My XBOX is connected using componant.

What is the best way to connect my SkyHD Box to my reciver? Opitcal digital? Or Interconnects? The distance will be somewhere in  the region of five metres! The Xbox can only be a digital optical I think?

 Please help. Thanks

Re: AV Receiver/Sky HD/LCD TV connection question

Yes optical digital from the XBox, and yes optical digital from Sky HD, as the analogue outputs will only provide stereo, not 5.1. You can find an affordable (£20, plus £8 delivery) 5m optical cable here, and this should be more than sufficient. There's an even more affordable one - under £10 delivered - here.
