Hello Guys! I just want to know what is the effect if I watch a 5.1 movie into a 7.1 channel set-up. What I mean is, I have a BD that plays 5.1 while I have a 7.1 speakers. Will the rear speaker sound the same as the sorround left/right or it will just stay mute during the duration of the movie? As of now, I only have a 5.1 set-up but I'm planning to upgrade in the future since 7.1 movies are emerging.

Which AV receiver have you got? A 5.1 movie will play 5.1, unless you use Dolby PLIIx to matrix to all 7 speakers.
