2 Channel Dilemma
Hi All
Love my AV system but struggling with 2 channel music. To get the best from my amp I can use a pure direct mode, which shuts down the processing and gives me lots of clarity but I lose the sub and the low frequencies as the speakers only go down to 80hz, if I put in stereo mode I get the bass back, but lose the clarity. Any thoughts on how I can get the best of both worlds without spending lots of money?

Thanks Mark, when I try that the sub also cuts out. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
On my old Pioneer, Denon & this Yamaha i can tell the sub channel / LFE to come on & overide the 2 channel only out in the Amps menu, can you not do that on the Marantz?
Set the speakers to "small" and use "straight". I find this gives best clarity, even with bigger speakers (Dali Ikon 6).
Thanks f1only, it wasn't an obvious setting on the amp! - I needed to set the bass to LFE + main, rather than just LFE. Who knew! (well you did...)
Thanks to Frog and Mark too
No problem glad to be of help.

Ah yeh that's right, I had a quick toggle through after posting my previous note, but as I don't have a sub, it does not come up as an option, glad your sorted too.
Thanks Mark
Longer term I think I just need better front speakers. Those kef r's sound mighty fine!

You could try "direct" rather than "pure direct"
