1080P HDMI pass through from Panasonic DVD Recorder / Yamaha RXV-1065 Problem.

Help please,
I have owned a Panasonic DMR-EX87EB DVD recorder and Pan. TX-37LZD70 for a couple of years and have been delighted with both.
When I set the output from the recorder to 1080p directly to the TV is maintains this setting completly but if I connect via my new Yahams RXV -1065 (Pass through) as soon as I switch from the recorder or switch the recorder off then switch on again output from it goes to the basic setting 546. ( indicated on my television). I have to go into the menu of the recorder and reset it to 1080p every time to maintain a good quality picture.
Is this normal for a pass through HDMI or is there a solution?

Well having received no replies I contacted Panasonic, they said speak to Yamaha.
Spoke to Yahama, very helpful customer support, answered very quickly spent a long time trying different set up menu options. Eventually the advice of setting the DVD recorder output to Automatic and not 1080p worked.
