1080P/24fps Judder - is it a limitation of a 1366 x 768 LCD
Watched Pirates of the Caribbean last night through my PS3 on my Panny 32LXD700. Looked fantastic in many areas and detail was excellent. I did notice that there was some lack of smoothness in panning shots, objects in background etc. Most of the film is as smooth as you like, and no-one else in the family made comments (this was the first Blu Ray they'd watched).
As the PS3 is set to 1080P and 24FPS, and the Panny can accept 1080P input, I was hoping for totally smooth playback such as I get on SD broadcasts or on my old CRT. I have been a little confused with 24FPS since the What HIFI reviews say my LXD700 is 24FPS compatible and the TV says its 1080P input so is it unreasonable to expect totally smooth playback all the time?
Is the issue apparent as the Panny is only 1366 x 768 so the downscaling of the 1080P/24 image is causing this?
Andrew, when What Hifi reviewed the LXD700, was any of this occassional lack of smoothness apparent?
A 32" LCD was really the maximum size I could fit in our lounge, and I've had the LCD for a good seven months now and I'm very pleased with it, but in hindsight, if I had got a full HD LCD that was 1920 x 1080, would that have been totally smooth?
