I prefer systems that put a smile on your face with the volume turned down and leave you stunned or entranced when you turn it up a but. And yes there are systems that can do all this and make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. And there are various approaches or combinations of hi-fi equipment that can do this.
I guess most people will point to their own system if they are happy with it so I will do just that .
It sounds pretty much the same at all volume levels just louder or quieter and with a well recorded piece of music ( usually a live recording ) it is as large as life, which is what I have always wanted . I find it hard to imagine better But I sure there is
