What's your favourite 20 seconds of music?
John Cage's 4'33" – from around 3m 32s to about 3m 52s
John Cage's 4'33" – from around 3m 32s to about 3m 52s
You certainly need a very special HiFi system to fully appreciate this piece

The start of "New sensation " Inxs ,just love the uplifting vibe to it. Also Stevie Wonder "superstition" beginning is pretty funky.
One of my favourite 20 seconds or so is the end drum solo at the of 'Funeral Pyre' by The Jam. Very Moon the loon style.
First 20 seconds of Disco Hospital
That song sounds like a bad acid trip! But in a good way.
Tubular Bells.
That's my ring tone.
The intro to Eric Claptons Layla

The guitar riff in Dire Straits Money For Nothing (0.34 - 0.54)
Last few seconds on 'And You and I' from Yes. Hearing Steve Howe on it's guitar is causing goose bumps for sure.
opening seconds from 'Unfinished Sympathy' from Massive Attack. Great 'hifi-set-checker'
how about the opening of Teardrop - massive attack I heard it on demo through Mark Levinson amplification and magnaplaner speakers..... Sweet holy Jesus it was amazing but hurt your chest!
First 20 seconds of Disco Hospital
That song sounds like a bad acid trip! But in a good way.
Or a good acid trip!
Did you just listen to 20 seconds?
That is a toughie.
3:22 onwards of Convex Concave by Biffy Clyro. The breakdown and following crescendo is immense.
5:08 onwards of Content by BT from his album ESCM was a big deal for me. I think I first heard it in 1999. A switch was flicked, all of a sudden Prog house was dead and it was all about Breaks from then on in.
3:21, Radio Protector by 65DaysOfStatic, all ready in the meat of the song, when the second wave of drums kick in...
Or a good acid trip!

Did you just listen to 20 seconds?
I listened to the whole track. Not sure if it can be classified as being actual music but it does sound interesting. I'll have a listen to the rest of the album some time.
Radio Protector by 65DaysOfStatic
How can I have never heard these two songs before? WOW!
Motorhead's "Ace of Spades". One of the most iconic rock tracks ever. The opening 20 seconds practically defines a genre.
I haven't played ESCM for 10 years!
It's on now and sounds blinking amazing through my DAC
Love is the drug:Roxy-opening bit
Money for Nothing: Dire doodahs opening
Last part of Rusty Gun-Nils Lofgren
Middle of Blue Turk -Alice Cooper
Any 20 sec of Schritt fuer Schritt by Ton Steine Scherben
200 seconds of the live opening to Sweet Jane live off Rock and Roll Animal
Any 20 sec + guitar section of Rory Gallagher or Robin Trower

Origin Unknown - Valley of the Shadows.......hang on that might be 31 seconds.
100 bonus points for that track.
I'd say the end of this track by Burial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS2wE7BZel0#t=3m29s
