I have a review from NKs mag to hand if you want a potted review of the PMCs PP.
Dug out the WHFI mag that had the PMC GB1is Group Test, and the amazing thing, above all else, is the price hike. Back in 2009 the price shown was £1275.
Have to admit I like the looks and the sonic strengths of the small speaker.
yep. PMC price hike in recent years can pretty much be described as a 'EDITEDtake'
Sounds good. Ta.

Must admit, it's the only thing that chokes me off.
Here ya go PP.
First off he tried them in the 28ft office listening room , erm they got a tad lost. Well they would do dont you think.
So next up at home 17ft lounge close to rear wall to utilise room gain, to lift low freq output. Strong and punchy with good grip.
Wicked em up and all became boxy !. Take from that what you will.
Obvious amounts of low frequency action and strong treble but well proportioned. Treble quality on the fresh side but good all the same.
Overall for a small speaker they offer a large sound with conspicuous bass and plenty of zesty treble. However due to it being a small box it works hard at all this with the end result being boofy bass. Not especially revealing either with an opaque midband that although easy on the ear wasnt especially lucid.
In his opinion they where at the time comprehensively challenged by the 684s /iQ70s and the QA 1050i for a lot less money.
He used SS which most folk use (valves didnae work too well with em anyways according to him).
They got a 3 globe out of 5 award. But as ever, 5 globes 8 stars whatever, the ratings and reviews amount to jack dont they.
I suspect the R300s will be better in every respect and will do what you want of them....though of course, I could be well off base!

Prolly Cno, in both cases ,lol . Be interesting to how that review stacks up against whatsahifis. 2 totaly different listening enviroments and varied lugholes. Lets not forget how old these reviews are and the speakers for comparrison that were current at that time.
I forgot the for and againsts which tickled me.
Attractive Appearance !
Boofy Bass Quality
Opaque Upper Midband
PRICE !!. This seems to crop up a lot regarding PMCs dunnit.
I was going to say, as times move on and as the bar is raised, better standards can be set.
Mmmm... this doesn't ring any bells when I heard the DBs. Assuming, of course, the GBs are scaled-up DB1is. That's the basis I'm working on.
Regards room size, it's non-applicable in my case: the measurements are 18' x 13' and the speakers fire across the 13' due to crumby house design. So actual seating position from speakers is 9' approx.
Not sure what an "opaque treble" is, TBH. If I heard them would I recognise it? The DB1i had a clean, detailed treble with a more of a smoother presentation, compared to the MAs, which can sound cold.
Thanks for the info, FD.
conspicuous bass and plenty of zesty treble. ...boofy bass.
Boom and tizz then! Should be right up penguins street.
Penguin, he said opaque mid, not treble. Opaque means not transparent.

Yet again Craig comes up with constructive posts.
Please, Craig, there's no need to keep taking the rise. It isn't needed.
Craig set you some homework a while back. Have you done it yet?

Well, no. He linked something to do with actives. Quite frankly, because he kept on about it I didn't bother. I was never interested in buying actives, something I made crystal clear at the time, just wanted more info on the format.
PP , have you managed to listen to Leemas Xone (stupid name) floorstander with your pulserama ?. This thread has been going so long I ....
A. Cant remember and B. Cant be fagged to trawl through it all. Reason I ask is if you have heard them and liked them , but too pricey at the time , there are a pair of ex demeraras on thiefbay at the min Acton-Gate-Audio is the sellist.
